Vlierbesbloesemlimonade

citroensap erbij
snel a/d kook brengen
zeven

en dan drinken met spa rood

life is so sarcastic

IT"S ONE OF THOSE DAYS;

I woke up way too late by a textmessage
I did the laundry and found out that the most colourful items I posses are the yellow towels to whipe the sink
I tried soooo hard to start, but until 2.00 am the only thing I was activating was the word-document ... in which I was supposed to double the words... the only thing I doubled was the amount of liquorice I was munching
I could only seriously start my after my second glass of wine (at 1.59 am I finially gave in to my needs)

there's nothing on the radio and tomorrow it's gonna rain
cheers.

NEON ART

(Kauf dich glücklich, Berlin.)

Ever since, I've always been attrackted to neon. It's cheap, it's tacky, it got a very American appearance, it's everything I don't like. And I'm highly attrackted to things I don't like. Things I don't like trigger a strong reaction and that's in fact, exactly, what I do like.

Neon in an art-sense makes an even better impression on me because then I've got something to interpretate. Neon graphic design art is my favourite combo; and I've started a little collection-project on that. (I prefer doing projects; they are better than events in my opinion. Events are short-timed and limited, while projects are more open minded and open ended.)

Things have been done with neon in art history, Dan and Joseph and their minmalistic movement companions... And although they are highly interesting, they are not so contemporary anymore... I like to look in the now, what is happening? Actually the thing that triggered me to writing this, were some pamflets around the city regarding a work by Tracy Emin.

some collected, musealized neon;
(cerith wyn evans)

Of course it is cool to spot neon-art in a museum or gallery, but it is even cooler if you spot potential art outside the institutes. I am always scouting for those neon signs, that weren't intended to be art, but in fact could be when they've been put in a museum-setting (how Duchampian of me..). When you cut them out of their daily context they can be seen as art, the barbershop sign could be art... pure street-art!

This party is old and uninviting.

Participants all in black and white.

You enter and close the door behind you.
Now show me the world as seen from the stars.

So thank you for being that kind of girl.

we gonna find you

something like...?

Slight differences; they are all about the details...

I have the strange habit reading my newspaper (yes ... PAPER...) backwards. So when I chucked my newspaper out of the mailbox today I started on page 27 (going out section). When I reached page 22 the heading was something like

"Staying up one night equals a 3 km walk"
(saying sturdy things like this definitly catch my attention... I mean, 3 km... that's like nothing! I can do that... HA)

The sleep deprivation of one night costs a human being the same energy as a 3 km long walk. It only costs 7% extra... Ok. fine, whatever would one think... BUT (and here comes the best part) the same test was done on rats, and they use 50% more energy. Significant huh....

ONE MINOR DETAIL: the test on humans was performed on people who were aloud to watch TV, read, knit, whatever BUT the test on the rats was performed on animals which were forced to balance on a floating raft .... ALL night long ...

SAY AGAIN?

(oh that's Heidi, by the way)

analogue throw away camera

So now that my beloved (see this post) Polaroid had shut down, and is really hard to get nowadays, I had to find a other (cheap) way to snap around-solution. Since I'm not a big fan of looking trough the screen when you should be looking through the lense, throw-away camera's appear to be the next hot item in my bag.

Here a few views from october/november 2010

vogue's cover graphics

Creative Review layered a bunch of covers of Vogue Magazine on top of the other. This to lay bare the structure of the formula of the cover's graphic design.
Actually, I like the layered ones so much better than the originals. They really look autonomous, outstanding and beautiful. It forces you to think on the way graphic design is used and put into practise.

The centered, white skinned, dark hared model:

I also remembered a artwork on vogue on the 'niet normaal' exhibition in Amsterdam.

positive critique
